First Grade!

In First Grade we will work hard, be kind, and success will follow us!
Homework
First Grade students are expected to read 20 minutes every night and/or be read to by an adult. Paents will need to intial the calendar in the AVID Folder each night. Each Friday, your child will bring home homework in their AVID Folder and yellow sheet with next weeks spelling pattern. Homework will consist of, reading, math, and an occasional special assignment. These items are due every Friday to your child's teacher. Spelling Checks will be given on Thursday or Fridays.
Snack
We have a long morning from that hearty breakfast at home until the 12:20 lunch in the school cafeteria. Your student may bring a healthy snack to school. Examples of a healthy snack would be grapes, raisins, apple, granola bar, pretzels, carrots, and/or cheese. Please no cookies, cake or chips. The snack should be one portion of a finger food. It should not be messy or cause stains on clothing, carpeting, or fingers. It is wise to cut apples into smaller pieces. Water only, no juice, please.
AVID Folder
Your child has a red AVID folder to be taken home by your child daily. Please check it for notes, finished work, homework, etc. The folder will have a student study sheet/calendar also. Check the study sheet daily for any notes concerning behavior or other work/study habits. Please initial this sheet every day when you have seen the folder's contents, and have completed homework for the night.
